Welcome to Eken Cup Handball players from all over the world are hereby invited to this years great handball party in Stockholm. We are arranging, For the 28th consecutive year, a handball tournament on the lovely fields of Gubbängen, Stockholm. We are continuing the Development of the tournament into making it an international event with more and more participants from our neighbours around the Baltic Sea. It is our goal that we should have international participants in age groups. During the year we have been in contact with Chinese clubs and hope to see a Chinese team on the Gubbängen field this year.It has become tradition to have some of the players from the Swedish mens and ladies teams participate one one form or another during the tournament and we hope to be able to have them come this year as well - And who knows what the celebrity game has to offer this year? And let us hope for the same lovely weather as we are used to at "Eken".
Everything in one place Eken Cup is played on the Gubbängs field South of Stockholm. There are around 35 courts in one location. In the middle bleachers surround the "Centre-court" for the audience for the finals. All games are played on a grass surface that is of finest quality and survives most weather-conditions. The time of year most of the time gives us warm and clear weather. It takes no more than five minutes to walk through the whole tournament grounds. No busses are needed. Clubs with many teams can easily watch each other’s games. To cheer for your friend in the other club-teams really unites the club.
Accommodations Eken Cup primarily uses the schools in the vicinity for accommodations. This year we estimate that the furthest away school we will use is only 10 minutes away by subway. Mealtimes are served in Gubbängsskolan, which is right next to the field. Our "headquarter" is in the Gubbängshallen with the large cafeteria, which is right next to the field. Our goal is that all accommodations should be in the vicinity of the Gubbängs field.
Meals Intensive days in fresh air demands that the players eats plenty and nutritious meals to keep their strength. Eken Cup has professionals in the kitchen that knows the necessity of cooking tasty meals of high quality for large amounts of people.
The Centre Court The Centre Court, which is surrounded by bleachers, is used for the most see worthy games as well as for most of the finales.
The Celebrity Game One of the most appreciated events is the Celebrity game staring Celebrities from different arenas such as television and sports.
Stockholm Summertime Stockholm has lots to offer for every age. There is the amusement park Gröna Lund and Skansen with all the animals. The curious type will enjoy a guided tour by buss or boat. Or why not explore Stockholm by yourself, using the sub-way and local busses. There are numerous beaches and public out-door swimming pools. If you want to go shopping there is the Old Town" and City to explore.
Guest service Our Guest service helps you find your way around Stockholm. We want you to enjoy Stockholm, so we try to put your games either in the morning or in the afternoon. We can offer a limited service in transporting luggage to and from the boats and the airport. |
