About Eken Cup

The worlds largest handballtournament on grass, since 1976.

2010 Eken cup celebrates 35 years. The tournament is constantly changing. Last year we had approximately 8 000 participants from Sweden, Poland, Finland, Russia, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania. Over 2 000 of them slept over in schools and hotels. Our ambassadors around The Baltic Sea have done a great job getting so many participants to Stockholm. 2009 was also the year where we had more foreigin finalists than ever before.

Along with our ambition to attract more teams to the tournament we constantly try to improve the quality of our guestcards. Today you get free travels with the metro, by bus and commuter train in Stockholm with your guestcards.

The work with our very own Childrens Convention, wich is the adaption of hte UN Childrens Convention, will in 2010 highlight the article regarding saftey of children. We want all leaders and coaches to be the role models that all children needs to become great people and handballplayers when they grow up.

Another great handball event in Stockholm!

All handballfriends are hereby welcomed to the big handballevent in Stockholm of 2010, Eken Cup. The conditions are same as previous year, a lot of handball on a lot of grass pitches on the green and beautiful Gubbängsfältet just south of Stockholm City.

We continue to work with our ambition to create a international tournament. We direct us primarily towards our neighbors around the Baltic Sea and hope that we’ve made it easier for them to travel to Stockholm and participate. Of course we welcome paticipants from other countries as well.

If we get important guests, such as a national team for example, we can’t tell yet, but something extra always takes place at Eken Cup. A regular event is the “celebrity match” which is played almost every year.

Almost everything in one place

Eken Cup takes place on Gubbängsfältet just south of Stockholm City. Around 60 pitches on the same field.

It takes approximately five minutes to walk through the whole tournament area. No buses are needed to transport players between fields or schools and clubs with several participating teams can easily watch all it’s teams matches. To cheer for your fellow club members creates a great club spirit and makes Eken Cup something special.

The schools and camps

Eken Cup primary uses the schools around Gubbängsfältet. Depending on the amount of participants with guest cards we’ve also used schools inside Stockholm City. Of course, still with fast metro connections to Gubbängsältet. The cantina where all food is served is located inside Gubbängsskolan which itself is located just by the field. Our ambition is to always keep the schools were participants sleep close to the main field.

The food

Intensive days in the fresh air requires the players to eat a lot of nutrient food to have the energy for all the matches. Eken Cup have professional staff in the kitchen that knows how to cook great food for many people.

The celebrity match

As usual we offer some extra fun on the Saturday by showing a celebrity match, just for fun. You never know who’s on the field this year!
